Your motherboard has both a USB 2.0 and 3.0 controller. Disabling that driver will effectively disable the USB 3.0 support, and with it, any connectivity through those ports. Even USB 2.0 devices won't work on those ports (they will work on the other USB 2.0 ones). Just incase you didn't know, the blue USB ports are USB 3, and the black ones are USB 2.
You can start downloading the USB 3.0 NEC controller Driver for Gigabyte G1.Assassin, G1.Guerrilla, G1.Sniper, GA-770T-USB3, GA-770TA-UD3, GA-785GMT-USB3, GA-870A-UD3, GA-880GA-UD3H, GA-890FXA-UD5, GA-890GPA-UD3H, GA-EP41T-USB3, GA-EP43T-USB3, GA-EP45T-USB3P, GA-H55-USB3 and other Gigabyte motherboards. To start download file, click green «download» button on page below. We advise you to use a variety of download managers like «FlashGet» or «Download Master».Also, you can go back to the list of drivers and choose a different driver for Gigabyte G1.Assassin Motherboard.
I will try that and let you know thanks.I had another thought. Perhaps there is a DOS based firmware updater for this chip. The updaters I have tried are all Windows based so if I boot into DOS and run a dos based firmware updater for the NEC/ RENESAS that might work. Anybody know of a DOS based Firmware updater for the NEC uPD720200F1 USB3.0 host controller?
Manufacturers of USB 3.0 host controllers include, but are not limited to, Renesas Electronics, Fresco Logic, ASMedia, Etron, VIA Technologies, Texas Instruments, NEC and Nvidia. As of November 2010, Renesas and Fresco Logic[18] have passed USB-IF certification. Motherboards for Intel's Sandy Bridge processors have been seen with Asmedia and Etron host controllers as well. On 28 October 2010, Hewlett-Packard released the HP Envy 17 3D featuring a Renesas USB 3.0 host controller several months before some of their competitors. AMD worked with Renesas to add its USB 3.0 implementation into its chipsets for its 2011 platforms.[needs update] At CES2011, Toshiba unveiled a laptop called "Toshiba Qosmio X500" that included USB 3.0 and Bluetooth 3.0, and Sony released a new series of Sony VAIO laptops that would include USB 3.0. As of April 2011, the Inspiron and Dell XPS series were available with USB 3.0 ports, and, as of May 2012, the Dell Latitude laptop series were as well; yet the USB root hosts failed to work at SuperSpeed under Windows 8.
Various early USB 3.0 implementations widely used the NEC/Renesas µD72020x family of host controllers,[39] which are known to require a firmware update to function properly with some devices.[40][41][42]
To fully realize the performance of the Demo3, it must be attached to a computer that contains a USB 3.0 host controller. USB 3.0 was a relatively young technology at the launch of Demo3 (mid-2012). The availability of integrated USB 3.0 hosts was sparse, but has increased steadily. For now, it is necessary to characterize system support of USB 3.0 (and subsequently Demo3) into the following categories:
The following section contains information regarding specific USB 3.0 chip vendors. Since it is impractical to test every combination of system & USB 3.0 host controller with the Demo3, this may give some general indication of compatibility when specific data does not exist.
The 7 Series Chipset family is the first Intel chipset to integrate a USB 3.0 host controller. This is also the chipset that supports the Ivy Bridge family of CPUs (3rd generation Core Family) and was released in mid-2012.Intel 7 Series Chipsets are recommended for use with the Demo3. Tip: if a system contains a Core i7/i5/i3 3xxx series processor, then it uses a 7 Series Chipset. Required: For proper operation with Intel 7 Series chipsets, the Demo3 needs to be running E.106 (boot firmware), E.20B (firmware), 26 (FPGA), or later. Use the HardwareUpdate Tool to check the current firmware loaded on the Demo3 and update the Demo3 if necessary. Note that newest available version will be displayed on the next dialog as each item is selected, and it may not match the versions listed here. Ex. HardwareUpdate Tool listing Demo3 boot firmware, firmware and FPGA versions.
( _assp/index.jsp)One of the initial USB 3.0 implementers on the market was NEC, after a merger this technology was marketed under the Renesas branding. Typically older drivers and software will reference the NEC name, while newer releases reference Renesas. NEC/Renesas have had roughly a 1-1.5 year head start over every other manufacturer, so their solutions are most commonly available (although this will change over time as support moves to the chipset). As such, they have had the most development and maturity. Due to these stability factors, the bulk of Demo3 testing has been conducted with NEC/Renesas based USB 3.0 host adapters. There are 3 generations of NEC/Renesas parts:
Motherboards using the Intel 7 series (Ivy Bridge), Intel 8 series (Haswell), Intel 9 series (Broadwell), and Intel 100 series (Skylake) chipsets have built-in USB 3.1 support, provided by the Intel USB 3.1 host controller. Examples of the Intel 7, 8, and 9 series systems can be found below. For users using systems without Intel USB 3.1 support, please refer to Host Controller Interface (HCI) Card and Driver.
Where possible, the drivers applicable to each device or classof devices is listed. If the driver in question has a manual pagein the FreeBSD base distribution (most should), it is referencedhere. Information on specific models of supported devices, controllers, etc. can be found in the manual pages.
The esp(4) driver provides supportfor the Qlogic FAS216 and FAS408 SCSI controller chips found in awide variety of systems and peripheral boards. This includes theQlogic SCSI cards found in most Sun Ultra 1e and Ultra 2 machines. For Qlogic PCI SCSI host adapters, the isp(4) driver should be usedin place of the esp(4) driver.
These systems also contain Integrated Raid Mirroring andIntegrated Raid Mirroring Enhanced which this driver also supports. The SAS controller chips are also present on many new AMD/Opteronbased systems, like the Sun 4100. Note that this controller candrive both SAS and SATA drives or a mix of them at the same time. The Integrated Raid Mirroring available for these controllers ispoorly supported at best. The Fibre Channel controller chipset aresupported by a broad variety of speeds and systems. The Apple FibreChannel HBA is in fact the FC949ES card. This driver also supportstarget mode for Fibre Channel cards. This support may be enabled bysetting the desired role of the core via the LSI Logic firmwareutility that establishes what roles the card can take on - noseparate compilation is required.
With all supported SCSI controllers, full support is providedfor SCSI-I, SCSI-II, and SCSI-III peripherals, including harddisks, optical disks, tape drives (including DAT, 8mm Exabyte,Mammoth, and DLT), medium changers, processor target devices andCD-ROM drives. WORM devices that support CD-ROM commands aresupported for read-only access by the CD-ROM drivers (such ascd(4)). WORM/CD-R/CD-RW writingsupport is provided by cdrecord(1), which is a part ofthe sysutils/cdrtools port in the PortsCollection. 2b1af7f3a8
